You Can Dance Studio

A boutique warehouse studio on Gladstone Street teaching ballroom, Latin, salsa and hip hop, with private and group lessons for absolute beginners through to wedding dance prep.

You Can Dance Studio is a partner-dance school run out of a converted warehouse on Gladstone Street, teaching ballroom, Latin, salsa, hip hop and social dance styles to beginners and improvers. Run by instructor Paul Daniel, the studio focuses on absolute beginners and couples preparing wedding dances, offering both private lessons and group classes in a first-floor loft-style space with sprung timber flooring and surround mirrors.

You Can Dance Studio occupies a first-floor warehouse space on Gladstone Street in South Melbourne, a short walk from South Wharf DFO and the Docklands. The studio has a loft feel with good natural light, a 200 square metre sprung timber dance floor, six-foot mirrors along both walls, AV sound and theatre lighting, and a small waiting area with kitchen and shower facilities. Classes cover a wide range of partner dance styles, including ballroom staples like waltz, foxtrot, quickstep and Viennese waltz, Latin styles such as cha cha, rumba, samba and paso doble, plus salsa, hip hop and swing. The studio is particularly geared toward absolute beginners, and also runs a dedicated wedding dance program for couples wanting to learn a first dance routine before their big day. Lessons are available as private one-on-one sessions or group classes, and bookings run seven days a week by appointment. The studio is run by instructor Paul Daniel, who has taught dance for many years and whose students have gone on to sit dance examinations. You Can Dance Studio also hosts small workshops and intimate performances in the space. It's close to the 109 tram line, with a stop at the back door, and street parking nearby is free after 6pm, making it an easy stop for lessons before or after work.
