Vinnies South Melbourne

A newly opened Vinnies on Coventry Street stocking fashion, homewares and furniture, a short walk from South Melbourne Market.

Vinnies' newest Victorian store opened its doors on Coventry Street in July 2025, bringing another spot for secondhand fashion, homewares, electronics and furniture to the neighbourhood. Run by St Vincent de Paul Society volunteers, it sits just around the corner from South Melbourne Market, making it an easy addition to a weekend wander through the area's shops and cafes, and a good excuse to see what's landed on the racks lately.

Vinnies South Melbourne is one of the newest additions to St Vincent de Paul Society's network of Victorian op shops, having opened on Coventry Street in July 2025. Like other Vinnies stores, it's stocked entirely from community donations, with racks of secondhand clothing sitting alongside homewares, electronics, mattresses and furniture, so there's usually something worth a look, from a wardrobe refresh to a new piece for the lounge room. The store sits in the middle of South Melbourne's retail and cafe strip, an easy walk from South Melbourne Market, which makes it a natural stop if you're already out exploring the neighbourhood. Being a recent opening, the fit-out and stock presentation feel fresher than some older op shops, though the appeal is the same one that keeps Vinnies popular across the state: browsing for genuine bargains while supporting the Society's welfare and community work. It's open every day of the week, including Sundays, which isn't a given for op shops in the area. Vinnies also runs an online store for browsing from home, and this South Melbourne branch is on the lookout for volunteers if you're keen to get involved locally rather than just shop.
