South Melbourne Beach
Soft sand and calm bay water make this a favourite for families, swimmers and volleyball players, with a life saving club, playground and café close by.
South Melbourne Beach runs along Beaconsfield Parade between Lagoon Pier and Kerferd Road Pier, forming part of Port Phillip Bay's foreshore. The beach is home to the South Melbourne Life Saving Club, the Plum Garland Memorial Playground and a set of beach volleyball courts. A designated swimming-only zone keeps the shallows free of boat traffic, while a kiosk and café nearby cater to visitors after a swim or a walk along the sand.
