Lore's Kitchen is a family-run Colombian restaurant that opened on Wells Street in South Melbourne in August 2024. The 36-seat dining room runs a bilingual English-Spanish menu built around Colombian comfort food, with the aim of giving the local Colombian community a taste of home while introducing the cuisine to a wider Melbourne audience. Breakfast dishes include calentao and changua, while the lunch and dinner menu covers empanadas, arepas, chunchullo and patacones alongside heartier plates such as sancocho, ajiaco, mondongo, sobrebarriga, posta cartagenera and churrasco. The bandeja paisa, a Colombian classic combining rice, beans, chorizo, chicharrón and fried egg, is one of the kitchen's signature orders. Desserts run to torta de tres leches, quesillo and arroz con leche, and the drinks list features Colombian coffee and hot chocolate, agua de panela and lulada. The restaurant also offers a selection of grilled meats for larger appetites, and takes reservations by phone or through its Instagram page. Beyond dine-in service, Lore's Kitchen partners with DoorDash and Uber Eats for delivery, making its menu available across South Melbourne and the surrounding suburbs. The Spanish name on the menu and the Colombian coffee on the counter reflect the owners' background, and the restaurant has built a following among both Latin American diners and locals discovering the cuisine for the first time.
