Lord Somers Camp and Power House is a Melbourne not-for-profit that has run youth leadership and community development programs since 1929, when the original camp was established to bring together young people from different social backgrounds. The organisation takes its name from two linked bodies: Lord Somers Camp, the residential leadership camp on the Mornington Peninsula, and Power House, the Melbourne base founded by former campers to keep alumni connected and extend the organisation's work into the wider community. Power House occupies a lakeside site at 34 Lakeside Drive, Albert Park, where a clubhouse known as McAdam House has stood since 1963. The building is currently undergoing renovation, including asbestos roof replacement and the installation of a DDA-compliant lift and staircase to improve accessibility. Programs run from the site include Big Camp, life-long learning courses, positive ageing activities and partnerships with organisations such as Very Special Kids and the Mirabel Foundation, alongside volunteer training delivered through an online learning platform. The venue's meeting rooms and function spaces are available for hire, with income directed back into the organisation's community programs. Facility hire, camps and courses run by enquiry and scheduled booking rather than fixed public opening hours, and visitors are directed to contact the Power House office directly for programs, volunteering or venue hire information.
