Emerald Hotel
A family-run South Melbourne pub for over 30 years, its well-known front bar draws a loyal racing and footy crowd — no 'Cricketers Bar' could be confirmed on-site.
The Emerald Hotel has been run by the Lewis family for more than 30 years from its corner site on Clarendon Street, built around a front bar locally described as an institution for turf talk and footy tips. A bistro, courtyard and small restaurant round out the venue, with live jazz on Wednesday nights and TAB facilities for race days. Note: research could not confirm a venue named 'The Cricketers Bar' at this address — the hotel's public bar is simply known as the Front Bar.
