Connection

A fourth-generation family stall at South Melbourne Market since 1954, selling curated homewares, gifts and a specialist niche perfume collection.

Connection has traded at South Melbourne Market since 1954 and is now run by the O'Dwyer family's third generation. The stall pairs curated homewares and gifts with Connection Parfumerie, a niche fragrance range featuring independent perfume houses from overseas.

Connection has operated at South Melbourne Market since 1954, making it one of the market's longest-running family businesses. The O'Dwyer family's third generation now runs the stall, located at 108-109 in Aisle G, having grown the original gift and homeware shop into a curated retail destination. The stall's core offer covers homewares and décor, gifts, home fragrance and Jellycat soft toys, with candles, diffusers, soaps and body care items spanning a range of price points. Its dedicated fragrance arm, Connection Parfumerie, focuses on niche and independent perfume houses, including exclusive Australian partnerships with brands such as Strangers Parfumerie from Thailand and Menditterosa from Italy that are not widely available elsewhere in the country. Owner Troy O'Dwyer describes the approach as research-led, with the team regularly speaking to perfumers and introducing more than 200 new products each month to keep the range current. Connection trades on the market's usual open days of Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The stall's combination of long-running local history and a genuinely specialist fragrance range sets it apart from a typical gift shop, appealing equally to visitors after a considered present and locals building a personal fragrance collection. An online shop and gift-focused product pages are available through the Connection website.
