Albert Park Yacht Club traces its origins to 1871, making it the oldest continuing inland yacht club for dinghy sailing in Victoria and one of the longest-established sporting clubs on Albert Park Lake. The club is based at 5 Aquatic Drive, between the 1st Victorian Sea Scouts hall and The Boatshed, within the Aquatic Drive sailing precinct of Albert Park Reserve. Club racing is held on Saturdays throughout the year, starting at 2pm in winter and 2.30pm in summer, with race briefings held 45 minutes beforehand, and the club also runs midweek twilight racing on selected Wednesdays over summer. Training is provided free to members and the club holds regular Discover Sailing days for newcomers wanting to try the sport before joining. The clubhouse includes a galley serving lunch and barbecue food on race days, a bar open after sailing and at social events, change rooms with hot showers, and a balcony overlooking the lake. Members without their own boat can use club-owned Pacer dinghies, and additional storage and lockers are available on site. The clubhouse is wheelchair accessible, with an automatic sliding entry door, a lift to all levels including the balcony, an accessible toilet and accessible parking beside the building. Annual membership covers full, student and social categories, with a reduced winter rate for members of other clubs.
