1st Victorian Sea Scouts has operated from Albert Park Lake since 1912, making it one of the first sea scout groups formed anywhere in the world and among the longest-running scouting units in Victoria. The group is based in a scout hall at 7 Aquatic Drive, on the same stretch of the lake's shoreline as Albert Park Yacht Club and The Boatshed, and welcomes boys and girls from across inner Melbourne. Membership is organised by age into four sections: Joeys for the youngest members, Cubs, Scouts and Venturers, each following the structured Scouts Victoria program while adding activities specific to the lake location. Warmer months bring canoeing, kayaking and sailing sessions on Albert Park Lake, while the group's hall supports indoor meetings, badge work and other scouting activities year-round. Like other Scout groups, 1st Victorian Sea Scouts is run by parent and community volunteers, with a group leader coordinating sections and programs. The hall is also available for community hire outside regular scouting hours, providing an additional lakeside venue for local groups and events. Access to the group's premises follows the same route as neighbouring clubs on Aquatic Drive, through Albert Park Reserve via the entrances at Albert Road and Clarendon Street, with kerbside and reserve parking available nearby, subject to Parks Victoria fees.
