O’Connell’s Hotel
A corner pub on Coventry Street pouring drinks since the 1870s, now turning out a wood-fired menu of native ingredients under the team behind Prahran's Flying Duck Hotel.
On the corner of Coventry and Montague streets, O'Connell's has been a South Melbourne fixture since the 1870s and one of Melbourne's earliest gastropubs since the '90s, when chefs like Greg Malouf and Adrian Richardson passed through its kitchen. Now run by the team behind Prahran's Flying Duck Hotel, it pairs a warm, heritage-toned refit with a Josper-cooked menu built around native ingredients, served across a front bar, dining room, terrace and three private dining spaces.
