MicDrop South Melbourne is an event and function space on Level 5 of South Melbourne Central, the shopping and office complex on Cecil Street directly behind South Melbourne Market. The room is one of several MicDrop locations dotted around inner Melbourne, and this one is pitched as the biggest of the group, a 213 sqm corner space with plenty of natural light and open views over the surrounding rooftops. Layout options run from a 24-person boardroom or U-shape setup through to a 200-person cocktail event, with theatre seating for 160, banquet tables for 88 and cabaret rounds for 66, so it can flex between a formal seminar in the morning and a relaxed evening function without much fuss. On the technical side there's a large LED display, wireless microphones, live-streaming and video conferencing capability, and background music that runs through Spotify. Food and drink comes via the onsite cafe, Timber + Greens, along with MicDrop's own catering partners, tea and coffee stations, morning and afternoon tea, corporate lunches and canape packages are all on the menu, and external caterers can be brought in for a buyout fee if you'd rather sort your own. It's an easy venue to get people to: the York Street/Clarendon Street tram stop and the City Road light rail stop are both about three minutes on foot, and Southern Cross Station is a short trip away by tram or car. Paid parking is available within the South Melbourne Central building itself, with metered street parking in the surrounding blocks.
