South Melbourne's policing footprint is set to grow, with a new station under construction on Dorcas Street, designed to operate 24 hours a day and accommodate a larger complement of officers once complete, along with upgraded interview rooms, cell facilities and better prisoner processing areas. Until that new building opens, the Bank Street station continues to serve as the local base for the area.
