Tucked beneath a renovated office building on Gladstone Street, Jimmy The Saint has built a loyal following among South Melbourne's office workers and locals since opening its doors. The cafe's old-fashioned fit-out sets the tone, with a vintage petrol pump in the corner, stools repurposed from drums of Mansion Wax Polish, and ceiling lamps once used to peer under car bonnets rounding out the retro theme. The food menu is straightforward and well executed, running from eggs with soldiers and ricotta pancakes with fruit labne and mascarpone through to a trio of arancini served with napoli sauce and parmesan. Lunch brings jaffles, cheeseburgers and salads, along with a rotating selection of homemade slice and other sweet treats for those after something with their coffee. Coffee itself comes courtesy of St. Ali, one of South Melbourne's best-known roasters. With fast, friendly service and a genuine neighbourhood feel, Jimmy The Saint suits a quick coffee on the way to work just as easily as a longer breakfast or lunch with friends.
